(June 13, 2023) -- Sikeston is filled with events happening this weekend. One event that should not be overlooked is the Third Annual Sikeston Juneteenth event.

The weekend kicks off Friday night with the Black Excellence Affair. The free event will be held from 7-10 p.m. at the SEMO Shriners Club, 1806 Garwood Avenue. Entertainment will be provided by DJ Mal. An RSVP is required.

The Juneteenth Festival will then run from 2-8 p.m. Saturday at Lincoln Park, kicked off by a parade at 2 p.m., followed by the Lincoln Showcase at 2:30 p.m.

A basketball tournament will be held at 3 p.m. with Tasha G & The Gents performing from 5-7 p.m.

A scholarship will be awarded from 5:45-6 p.m.

There will be plenty of vendors, cultural and educational activities, entertainment, basketball, bouncy houses, games, and face painting.

Those planning to attend are encouraged to bring their tent and lawn chairs.

Then on Sunday, bring your tambourine as a Gospel Explosion will be held from 3-5 p.m. in Lincoln Park.
