Road work to begin Friday

Road work to begin Friday

(July 27) -- ASA Asphalt Company of Cape Girardeau will begin milling and overlay projects in Sikeston beginning Friday (July 28) on Kendall Street.

The first phase will be to strip or mill a thin layer off the top of the existing street. The second phase will be to go back with two layers of asphalt to the give the street a new surface.

Citizens should have access to their property for most of the time the construction is taking place, except for when the milling machine is passing in front of their house (which should only take a few minutes) and while the pavement operation passes their house.

The asphalt will take 30-60 minutes to dry before access is available. These projects are part of the city of Sikeston`s yearly street program as well as a Missouri Department of Economic Development grant project.
