Plenty of events on tap Saturday in Downtown Sikeston

There are plenty of events on tap Saturday in Historic Downtown Sikeston in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day.

The annual St. Patrick’s Day Festival and Homebrew Competition will be held from noon to 4 p.m. at American Legion Park. There will be free samples from close to a dozen homebrewers, food trucks, souvenir mugs, a costume contest and live music from Keyed Up. There will also be kid activities.

Tickets are $15 and include a souvenir mug and beer samples. Tickets can be bought in advance at Historic Downtown Sikeston (573) 380-3801, at First State Community Bank, Sikeston Regional Chamber and CVB or they can be bought at the gate.

Sikeston Parks and Recreation will host their annual Cornhole Tournament beginning at 12:30 p.m. in the Depot Parking Lot. Registration begins at noon.

Two-person teams will play a round-robin format with the cost of $50 per team. There is a $500 prize for first place, $300 for second and $100 for third place and there must be 12 teams register to hold the event. Those interested can register at: CITY OF SIKESTON - Booking (bookeo.com)

After the Festival, Carson’s will host an Irish whiskey tasting and appetizers at 4 p.m. Those who attend can try Jameson, Jameson Black Barrel, Redbreast 12 year, Redbreast Cask Strength, Redbreast 15 year, Midleton, Method and Madness (four types) and Mitchell’s Green Spot.
