DAEOC to hold Oktoberfest Saturday

(Oct. 5) -- Historic Downtown Sikeston will once again be buzzing with activity Saturday when DAEOC hosts Oktoberfest.

Those who attend will be treated to classic German food like currywurst, bratwurst, schweineschnitzel along with hot dogs, funnel cake sticks and roasted chicken. Beer and wine will also be available in German and domestic bottled and draft.

All the food and drink is included in the admission price.

There will also be live music with Drivetrain, a 6-piece electric band from Nashville scheduled to perform. Their style covers music of different genres with top hits from the last few decades.

There will also be games with a log sawing contest and Masskrugstemmen, a traditional Bavarian strength contest.

The event last year was held on New Madrid Street but this year the event will be moved to the DAEOC parking lot located on Center Street.

Gates open at 5 p.m. Saturday as tickets are available online at https://www.daeoc.com/oktoberfest and at the gate.
