City Council actions Feb. 5, 2024

Sikeston City Council actions from the meeting held Feb. 5, 2024, were:

  • Council approved a program agreement for MoDOT’s Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) to extend the rail trail along Linn Street east from Ingram to Veteran’s Park. The total estimate of the project is $563,310 with a local match (20%) required of $112,662.
  • Council approved a request to replat 5.530 acres, known as Magazine Trace Re-Plat, which is located on the north side of Baker Lane. The new replat will have fewer lots than the original proposal but will now be a cul-de-sac and will allow more room for emergency vehicles.
  • Council awarded a bid for the lease of a photocopier for Community Development to Novatech, Inc., at a cost of $265.77 a month for 60 months. This was a budgeted item for Community Development.
  • Council awarded a bid for the lease of a large-format-printer to Novatech, Inc., at $210.47 per month for 60 months. This was a budgeted item for Community Development.
  • Heard from citizen Michael Harris, asking about the westward expansion of the Rail-to-Trail. Sikeston Public Works Director Jay Lancaster told Harris that he received conceptual plans for that project earlier in the day and must have the project under contract this year. Lancaster said he hopes to have the westward expansion under contract in the next few months.
