During today’s Council meeting, the following actions took place:
Approved emergency ordinance #6230 for the platting of the proposed Armor Addition. This tract of land lies west of US Highway 61, north of County Road 824 and south of Larcel Drive.
Approved City staff to contract with Bacon Farmer Workman Engineering as the consultant to provide design and inspection services for the widening and signalization of U.S. 61 for the Project Armor industrial park development.
Discussed the possible transferring of Municipal Court functions to circuit courts in Scott and New Madrid counties. By transferring to circuit courts, the City of Sikeston will save in excess of $158,000 this year, with the amount increasing each year thereafter. Council instructed staff to put the ordinance requesting the transfer back on the agenda for June 28th for the second reading and consideration.
- The regular July 5th Council meeting has been cancelled due to the July 4th holiday.
- Council study session is scheduled for Thursday, July 22 at either noon or 5:00 p.m. to discuss the use of American Rescue Plan (ARP) funding due to the City.
With no further action taken, the meeting was adjourned into Executive Session (property). Next Council meeting will be held Monday, June 28th at 5:00 p.m.
