Music in the Park returns to Downtown Sikeston Friday

(June 1, 2023) -- Legion Park will be filled on Friday nights once again this summer, as Historic Downtown Sikeston’s Music in the Park Summer Concert Series kicks off Friday night.

Each Friday night in June and July (except for June 16 and June 30) a concert will be held in Legion Park. The shows begin at 6 p.m. and run until about 8 p.m. Those wanting to attend the free concerts can bring their own chairs and blankets and enjoy the music.

This week, Double Take will return to the stage. A popular local band from Portageville, led by 15-year-old twin brothers, Double Take was one of the most attended concerts last year.

On June 9, Southern Draw will perform followed by Blind Velvet on June 23. There will be no show on June 16 due to the Hot Air Balloon Festival and there will be no show on June 30 due to the Fourth of July holiday.

Concerts will resume July 7 with The Dirt Road Express followed by Keyed Up performing July 14 and The Millstones performing on July 21. Countempo will conclude the Music in the Park Summer Concert Series on July 28.

The event is free thanks to sponsors Carpet Direct, Montgomery Bank, Southern Bank, Stogies of Sikeston, Jeremiah’s Fine Dining & Spirits, Sikeston MediCenter Pharmacy, Missouri Delta Medical Center and First Community State Bank.

Free popcorn will also be available thanks to Anchor Church of Sikeston.
