Code Red Emergency Notification System
Seconds Count In An Emergency!
The City of Sikeston has instituted the CodeRED™ Emergency Notification System - an ultra high-speed telephone communication service for emergency notifications. This system allows us to telephone all or targeted areas of the City in case of an emergency situation that requires immediate action (such as a boil water notice, missing child or evacuation notices).
The system is capable of dialing 50,000 phone numbers per hour. It then delivers our recorded message to a live person or an answering machine, making three attempts to connect to any number. Citizens can register several phone numbers, including cell phones (text messaging may also be enabled).
Should there be an emergency, you should receive an automatic telephone call. The number on your caller ID will read, 866-419-5000. A recorded message will inform you of the emergency. If you should call the number back, you will hear the same recorded message.
