Entry level pay begins at $26,492. Applicants with Missouri police or fire certification and experience are eligible for additional compensation and lateral entry. Benefits include health insurance, life insurance, retirement, 457 deferred compensation, cafeteria plan, paid vacation, holidays and sick leave.
Applicants must meet following requirements:
- 21 years of age at time of appointment to position
- High School Diploma or GED
- Prefer Missouri 480 hour police certification
- Prefer Missouri 120 hour fire certification
- Prefer previous police and/or fire experience in a paid police or fire department
- Must be able to successfully perform both police and fire duties
- Must be able to act quickly and calmly in an emergency
- Must be able to use tact and courtesy in dealing with the public
- Must be able to write clear and complete reports
- Must be able to work rotating shifts, holidays, and weekends
- Must live within five (5) miles of the City of Sikeston no later than one (1) year after employment
